Connect with English
The foreign-born U. S. population is reaching levels not seen since the return of the century. They and their teachers are in need of materials to help them acquire English.
In this series of programs, Connect with English tells the story of, a young working woman who leaves her family to pursue her dream of a music career. Through her story, students get to learn the English they need for every conceivable context—travel, medical, financial, familial, educational—which new immigrants face as they remake their lives in an English-speaking culture.
The series is funny, moving and dramatic, but never patronizing. It is both a great language course and great television.
