The Fairfax Network is an award-winning producer of distance learning programming that originates in Fairfax County Public Schools, Virginia. For almost 20 years, we have provided enrichment programs to schools and cable stations in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
1. Universal Words — Dr. Esperanto and his trusty sidekick Unum Pluribus lead students on an investigation of words. Each program has four parts and includes a vocabulary list culled from science, history, geography, Latin, and culture. The goal is to give students greater knowledge and the ability to see everyday relevance of words. These fun, fast-paced programs start with a basic vocabulary list and builds to include a science experiment, and some elements of Jeopardy!®.
2. Project Enlightenment — In an exercise of enlightenment, a group of high school students was transformed into citizens of 18th century America and staged a day of intellectual and enlightening conversation at Mount Vernon, the estate of George and Martha Washington. Dressed in colonial costumes and conversing in character, students discussed government, culture, and plantation life. This program offers highlights of the day’s activities.
3. She’s Got it! — Students explore the interdisciplinary world of invention, learn about the invention process, and meet “Lady Edisons” of the 21st century.
4. Lewis Latimer Renaissance Man — Brad Brewer’s “Crowtations” presents a puppet play that tells the story of African American inventor Lewis Latimer.
